Important Information for 8th Grade Parents:

On Friday of this week, 8th Grade students will be bringing home an important component of the state's education accountability system, the Parent Survey. Counselor’s Corner Habit 2...

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind through Problem Solving

Our Core Principle Spotlight for this week is Problem Solving.  Problem solving is the act of defining a problem; determining the cause of the problem; identifying, prioritizing and selecting alternatives for a solution; and implementing a solution.

Quotes:
“We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them”

“Think outside the square. Think for yourself don't just follow the herd. Think multidisciplinary! Problems by definition, cross many academic disciplines.”

“If you choose to not deal with an issue, then you give up your right of control over the issue

and it will select the path of least resistance.”

“Well, if it can be thought, it can be done, a problem can be overcome,”

“All my problems bow before my stubbornness.”

“Problems are meant to be solved, but unfortunately, a lot of people choose to complain, worry, and cry about them.”

― Edmond Mbiaka

“The first step to solving your problem is admitting that you have one.”

Counselor's Corner: Positive Thinking...

Our spotlight Core Principle for this week is Positive Thinking.  Positive thinking is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results. A positive person anticipates happiness, health and success, and believes he or she can overcome any obstacle and difficulty.

Positive Thinking Quotes:
A strong, positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success. Joyce Brothers

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results. Willie Nelson

A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results. Wade Boggs

You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind. Joyce Meyer

Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them. Jack Canfield

Round Top Elementary is collecting for a cause...

Round Top Elementary is collecting new or gently used athletic shoes
for an organization called WaterStep.
This project is being organized by our 2nd grade student Leaders.
We have learned that access to water is one of the biggest problems that humanity faces. 1 in 10 people on the planet do not have access to safe water. More people die every year from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation than from armed conflict.

Children are the most vulnerable.
Donated shoes will support water projects in communities around the world, providing safe drinking water to someone that needs it.
Our goal is 1,500 pairs of shoes.
Collection dates are Jan. 30- Feb. 24!

Shoes may be dropped off at Round Top, 449 Rimer Pond Rd, Blythewood from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm, or contact Principal Jeaneen Tucker,
at 803-518-4896 to arrange for pick up.
