A Message from the Principal...

Greetings Charger Families,

The 2016-2017 school year is upon us and the administrative leadership team, along with our faculty and staff, have been busy planning to ensure that Blythewood Middle School has another successful school year in store for every student.  

As we continue to plan for the needs of our students, as well as our faculty and staff, administrative changes have been made as follows:  Mr Ratterree, former 7th grade administrator will now be the administrator for 6th grade; Mr. Johnson, former 8th grade administrator will move to 7th grade and Mrs. Carter, who served as 6th grade administrator last school year, will now be the administrator for 8th grade.  As our administrators continue to transition into their new grade-level positions, Mrs. Carter and Mr. Ratterree will work together to prepare our students, teachers and parents for Jumpstart and Step Up to Sixth.  

If you have a 6th grade student, please make sure that they join us on Monday, July 25th - Wednesday, July 27th.  Please register in advance for this very worthwhile camp for your new 6th grade student.  The cost of the 3-day camp is $50 and will help acclimate students to the school, provide them with opportunities to learn the campus and make new friends and of course, all 6th grade students' favorite: provide opportunities to master locks and lockers.  Also, please remember that the first day of school for 6th grade students is August 16th during the district's Step up to Sixth program.

I am confident that each of our administrators will continue to provide the utmost support to every student, as well as to our parents and community stakeholders.  As always, home-school relations are a partnership and we welcome the opportunity to partner with our parents and other community stakeholders.

Finally, please note that our Charger Kickoff has been scheduled for Monday, August 15th, from 8:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m.  Additional information will be coming via postcard; however, so that you and your family can pre-plan for this event, we ask that you arrive in accordance to the times listed below:  

8:00 - 9:30 Students' last names beginning with letters A-L; 

9:30 - 11:30 Students' last names beginning with letters M-S;

11:30 - 1:00 Students' last names beginning with letters T-Z 

We look forward to another "electrifying" school year at Blythewood Middle School and can't wait to have you and your child(ren) join us for Charger Kickoff on August 15th.
