To 8th grade parents:
8th Grade IGP/High School Registration
Conferences
All
8th grade students will create an Individual
Graduation Plan (IGP) and choose a *career cluster during
an IGP conference session. The conference participants will
include: the rising freshman student, parent, counselor, career specialist and
high school counselor. Our IGPs are held in conjunction with the high school
registration conference for your convenience; one conference, one trip!
The IGP is part of the career planning
process. It builds on the coursework, career assessments and counseling. It is
a schedule outlining
the courses necessary for the student to successfully prepare for
graduation. Students will update their IGPs annually, giving them the
flexibility to change their career cluster should their interest change.
*Career Cluster: A career cluster is a way of organizing and tailoring
course work within a specific occupational group, for example, health science
or business. They serve
to help student learning and course selection.
Blythewood Middle School’s IGP/ High School
Registration conferences will be held in April.
Please refer to our web site, blog and school calendar
for dates. Parents will receive letters with appointment dates/times.

you have questions about the middle to high school transition/career planning
