Greetings Charger Families,
On Tuesday, August 27th, Chromebooks will be distributed during this day. All students will be getting new cases and devices this year. To make sure that you child's device is covered by insurance, please complete the fee payment via Parent Portal. Here are some reminders as we prepare for roll-out:
- Technology Device Insurance ($20) must be paid in full to have coverage. It covers one incident of accidental damage or theft (with a theft report) per school year. We strongly recommend the insurance fee be paid once the student has their assigned Chromebook. If damage occurs before insurance is paid, the student will be assessed the full cost of the repair or replacement For example, a broken LCD screen is $150 to repair. A keyboard is $75. Parents please note, as in the past, the Technology Device Insurance must be paid by September 30th. It will not be possible to purchase insurance after September 30th. - Signed RUP - You can complete via Parent Portal, as part of the Annual Update process. Please contact Mr. Abernathy, tabernathy@richland2.org, if you have questions.
In the coming days, more information will be shared with students about the proper use and care of their Chromebook. Please reference the following document as needed.
