Hello Charger Families,
This is your Technology and Learning Coach with relevant information to safe and responsible technology use. As we've rolled out devices for the new school year, it is a good time to use this launch as a reminder about the Digital footprint that each of us creates on a daily basis when we go online. We will be using time in all our classes to talk about being good digital citizens, but we also want our parents to feel knowledgeable and be part of the conversation as well.
That is why we want to encourage you to talk with your child and about their social media presence and other online tools they use on their Chromebooks, phones, and other technology. Remember, having open communication with your child about what, how, and who they share information with online matters. Have those conversations with them regularly. Remind them, that once they put something out on social media, they have limited control in how others will use it.
A great site, Common Sense Media, has great resources for you to learn about online life for teens and strategies to engage them in conversation so all involved are safe and successful digital citizens. Please take time to review, and even use these resources.
Action Step 1:
Review and Talk with your child about apps they use on technology. Review their accounts and make sure they've told you about all the accounts they have open on the range of social media like SnapChat, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
Other Activities:
Family Activity on Digital Footprint Link
Family Engagement Resources
Top 4 Family Tips
Thank you,
