BMS Shoe Drive Fundraiser...

The Blythewood Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization (BMS PTO) is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser from March 19 through May 19, 2018. All donated shoes will be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house families in these countries.
Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at the lobby of Blythewood Middle School. We encourage local organizations to participate in this fantastic giving opportunity! BMS PTO will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes.
By donating gently worn, used and new shoes to the Blythewood Middle School PTO, the shoes are saved from going into a landfill and will be given a second chance, making a difference in people’s lives around the world.

Woodley's Garden Center Fundraiser...

Blythewood Middle School depends on successful fundraisers by the PTO to supplement the funds necessary to continue offering the best educational opportunities for our Chargers and to support the school in general.  This Spring, we are happy to announce that we are working with a local company, Woodley’s Garden Center, to raise money for our support activities. Woodley’s Garden Center has been a local source for landscaping, plants, gardening supplies and more since 1981.
Order forms and an informational letter will be sent home this week, with the fundraiser beginning on March 22 at Curriculum Night. Completed order forms with cash or checks should be returned to the front office or homeroom teachers by April 12
Gift cards are $20 each.  For each gift card sold, your student will receive one raffle ticket entry for prizes.  These prizes will be announced during the morning show at school. Thank you in advance for your support! Questions? Email BMSPTO@yahoo.com.

Get your yearbook before they are gone...

BMS Black History Month Assembly...

On Monday, March 5th, Blythewood Middle School (BMS) held a Black History Month Assembly for their school community organized by BMS teachers Ms. Margaret Scott and Mrs. Verena Randolph. Student Council President Jordan Davis opened the assembly by welcoming everyone and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. He also gave a brief overview of the importance of African American contributions to society. BMS Chorus students were led by chorus teacher, Mrs. Amy Touchstone, as they sang Praise His Holy Name and O-Kanna Kamme Me. Project CARE: 2018 Town Hall Meeting ~ Student Participation...

The Project CARE Coalition will host a “Richland Two Town Hall Meeting” on Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 6:00-7:15 PM at the Richland Two Institute of Innovation (R2i2). We hope to engage our youth in critical conversations to prevent and reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD). We seek to work collaboratively with you in motivating students in grades 6-8 to attend the Town Hall Meeting. This year’s Town Hall will be informal and conducted in a World Café style.
We're excited about our students having their voices heard as this will be our first countywide youth-led initiative!
Can we count on you to encourage your students to attend?
Students will:
        Gain community service hours

●        Receive a Certificate of Appreciation for their portfolios

●        Be recognized during the Closing of the event

We hope your school will be represented during this community event. Thank you for assisting us in keeping our Richland Two communities safe and healthy!

Be on the look out for more information to come in 2018 from our Guidance Department!

Spring MAP Testing...

The Spring session of the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Test will be, March 15th and 20th (Thursday & Tuesday) during first period.  March 15th will be the Reading MAP test and March 20th will be the Math MAP test.
Some tips to help prepare students for this test are to get a good night's rest, charge their device overnight and bring the charger to school, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time. Parents, please encourage your student to take their time, read all questions carefully and do their best!

Interim Report...

Please be reminded that our first interim report for the 2017-2018 year was sent home as paper copy.  Parents are reminded that all other interim reports at Blythewood Middle School will be accessible via Parent Portal (paper copies will not be printed).

The second interim of the 3rd Nine Weeks is now available for parent review.  Report Cards will be issued on April 12th.

If you have an Active Parent Portal account you may check your child’s grades each week.  When you log into your account, the grades will automatically appear on the screen.  There is not a “report” tab to click on in Parent Portal.

It is important to monitor your child’s grades through Parent Portal before report cards are issued.  If you note that grades are not being updated regularly please contact the appropriate grade-level administrator, counselor or Mrs. Mazyck.
