Counselor's Corner ~ Community Youth Force...

The Community Youth Force

The Community Youth Force (CYF) is a project designed to motivate young people, between the grades of 7 - 10, to see themselves as contributors to community improvement, especially in areas that impact them and their families. While experience, education and other indirect strategies are viable to prepare the young person for adult responsibility, more direct hands-on opportunities to explore, within a safe and controlled environment, the value and the power of such adult practices as philanthropy, are sometimes more impactful.

Their belief is everyone can be philanthropists and give back through our talent, time and treasure.  Even young people can contribute early in their lives, in some way. Therefore, this project is designed to teach middle and high school students the value of collective and strategic giving through establishing student "giving circles."  They intend to include a minimum of 20 students to participate in monthly sessions from February - June of 2021.  At all times, all participants will be required to practice pandemic safety protocols. While most of their gatherings will be virtual, some may be in person.  If and when they meet in person, they will issue supplies such as masks, face shields, gloves, etc. to all attendees, as well as practice social distancing.

If you are interested, please complete the permission letter and return it to your student's school counselor by Monday, January 25.  Only three or four students will be accepted, so please return the permission letter as soon as possible.

BMS Information...

 Greetings Charger Families,

This is a friendly reminder that tomorrow, January 22, 2021 is an Early Release Day.  Since students are already participating in Asynchronous Learning on Fridays, the designated hours for Asynchronous Learning, for this designated Early Release day, will be 8:45 am - 11:15 am.  This will allow students the opportunity to still participate in Academic Assistance time, as well as time to complete any assignments provided by their teachers.  Please note that Monday, January 25, 2021 is a Student Holiday/Teacher Workday.  Finally, the 2nd nine weeks and end of first semester, is Tuesday, January 26th.

Please continue to speak with your student about the importance of talking to his/her teachers about making up any missed/missing assignments prior to Monday, January 25th.  Our teachers have been busy reaching out to students and parents to assist students as we work to navigate teaching and learning during the pandemic.

Due to the closeness of the end of the nine weeks, making up missing assignments will be at the teacher's discretion, as teachers are busy trying to prepare grades for report cards.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher as a first step to assisting your student with his/her academics.

BMS Important Schedule Information...

  Greetings Charger Families,

As a reminder, Richland Two will temporarily shift to eLearning for all students December 21st - 22nd, and again as we return from Winter Break, Jan. 4 – 15, 2021.

Fridays will continue to be asynchronous learning days during this time.  Our front office will continue to be open in order to provide assistance to our parents and students.

Our modified Phase 2 eLearning schedule is being provided.  We have also posted, for your convenience, our “Flex Friday Scheduled Assistance Time”.  Remember, assistance times on Fridays are not mandatory, but should be utilized if students need additional help from their teachers.  Fridays are NOT a day off for students.  Students will have assignments posted by their teachers in Google Classroom.

If you have any questions, please contact the school, 803-691-6850.
