BMS Canned Food Drive...


Date Changes ~Basketball Tryouts...

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN DATES...
Blythewood Middle will hold basketball tryouts on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018. If you are interested and have at least a C average or higher, please sign up immediately. The sign-up sheet will be posted in the cafeteria. Girls will try out from 2:30p.m-4:00p.m. Oct. 30th-Nov. 2. Boys will tryout from 4:00p.m-6:00p.m. Oct. 30th-Nov. 2.  You must have an updated physical on file to participate in tryouts. If you have any questions please contact Mr. EL-Amin.

Club/Group Pictures and Make-up Pictures...


School Picture make-up day is Wednesday, November 14th. 
If you missed getting your picture taken the first time, then on Wednesday, November 14th you will have your picture taken.  This picture will also be put in the yearbook.  Students who missed pictures the first time because of absence or are new to Blythewood Middle will have their picture taken.  

On Wednesday, all group/clubs will also be taking their pictures for the yearbook!

BMS is excited to have the opportunity to invite you to our annual BMS Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 9th at 8:00 AM in our gym.  Whether you have a child here at BMS or you know a military veteran in our Blythewood community, we are honored to have you and them join us.  Please take a moment and RSVP by completing this form, bit.ly/BMSVeterans, with your name and military branch. 
  
We have a light breakfast planned for you and your family to enjoy prior to the ceremony beginning at 7:15 AM in the Media Center. 
Please note our earlier start time of the breakfast at 7:15 AM in the Media Center and the Ceremony to follow after at 8:00 AM.

BMS Celebrated Red Ribbon Week...

BMS Celebrates Red Ribbon Week; the national campaign to promote awareness for substance abuse and advocate against it. This year's national theme is "Dream about your drug free journey".
Each day the school facilitated the following daily themes and activities:

Monday: Dream about your Drug Free journey; wear your school appropriate pajamas to school.                
Tuesday: "Tacky Tourist Tuesday" - 

Begin your Drug-Free journey; wear your favorite tacky/mismatched vacation clothes:
Wed: " Stomp out Drugs" - Walk during lunch recess & wear red sock, shoes, hat, shades.
Thursday:  "Team Up Against Drugs" - wear your favorite team attire, college or pro.
Friday: "Red Out Day" - wear ALL RED

Students created a Pledge Banner during Advisory class which was displayed in the school Cafe and signed by students symbolizing their commitment to remain drug-free.

Peace Poster Contest...

It's time for the Annual Lion's Club Peace poster contest! Middle schools across the globe participate in this contest to celebrate and promote peace in our world. This years them is "Kindness Matters." Stop by room 303 or email Mrs. Atkins for details. All submission must be turned in by October 29th.

Art Contest...


It's time to plan your submission for the Atlantic Institute Art and Essay contest. This year's theme is Building community: the role of teens. Prizes include monetary awards and a trip to Peru. See Mrs. Atkins for more information.

LRADAC is sponsoring a contest for Red Ribbon Week. Any Richland county middle school can enter! Enter a 30-second PSA or creative writing piece for a chance to win prizes and recognition for your school. This year’s Theme is “Life is Your Journey. Travel Drug Free”. Greetings Charger Families,

Our aim is to keep our families informed of information that will help you stay abreast of things that will help your student be as successful as possible at Blythewood Middle.  As a result, we are moving away from Parent University sessions that don’t always fit our parents’ busy schedules and bringing those informative sessions to you in the form of YouTube videos that you are able to watch at your leisure.
