Read with the Gamecocks...
Read with the Gamecocks reading program kicks off Dec. 3rd. Students track how many pages read December 3-14 and turn in completed reading log by December 17th to earn two free vouchers to select Gamecock basketball games. Print out a copy of the reading log or pick up a hard copy in the library.
BMS Soccer Conditioning...
Boys and Girls soccer conditioning will start Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 through Thursday, January 24th. The first week of conditioning will be Tuesday, December 4th - Thursday, December 6th from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM. All participants must have an updated physical on file in order to participate. Participating in conditioning does not guarantee a spot on the team.

Impact Aid Forms
Richland School District Two schools are funded primarily by local taxes. Due to the large federal presence in our area and the tax exemptions available to federally connected personnel, businesses and agencies; our district is eligible to apply for Federal Impact Aid Funds. Impact Aid is a federal program designed to assist local school districts that enroll federally connected students. The Impact Aid Program funds become part of Richland School District Two's general operating budget and are critical to maintaining high standards for educational excellence. Your assistance is needed in identifying students that may be federally connected as of our survey date, November 29, 2018. Impact Aid Program Survey Forms were distributed to all students on November 29, 2018. Please take a few minutes and complete the form for each Richland Two student in your household and return it back tomorrow. The information you provide on these forms is confidential.

Letters About Literature Contest...
Each year the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress in partnership with affiliate state centers for the book, invites readers in grades 4-12 to enter Letters About Literature, a national reading-writing contest. To enter, readers write a personal letter to an author, living or dead, from any genre—fiction or nonfiction, contemporary or classic, explaining how that author’s work changed the student’s way of thinking about the world or themselves. There are three competition levels: Level I for children in grades 4-6; Level II for grades 7 & 8, and Level III, grades 9–12.
PTO Glow Party Celebration from Fall Fundraiser...
Our PTO will hold the Glow Party for students that qualified for this event based on our Fall Fundraiser. The Glow Party will be held Thursday, November 29th at 1:00 in the gym. Our administrators will be on hand to assist with coverage. Ninety-three students qualified for this event. Students will be responsible for making up any missed assignments while attending the Glow Party.
Many thanks to our students, parents and the community for supporting this fundraising initiative on behalf of the school and our PTO!
The limo ride to lunch will be held on December 10th for those students that qualified.
Also, congratulations to Jaxson Martino. He will serve as Principal for the Day on December 20th. Jaxson sold the most items during the PTO Fundraiser.

Happy Thanksgiving...
Blythewood Middle School would like to wish all of our "Charger Families" a Happy Thanksgiving! We hope that you enjoy some time as a family.
Blythewood Middle School will be closed Wednesday, November 21st - Friday, November 23rd. We will resume classes on Monday, November 26th.
Interim #1 Quarter 2 available today...
The first interim of the 2nd Nine Weeks will be available for parent review on Tuesday, November 20th. The 2nd interim will be available on December 13th.
It is important to monitor your child’s grades through Parent Portal before report cards are issued. If you note that grades are not being updated regularly please contact the appropriate grade-level administrator, counselor or Mrs. Mazyck.
If you have an Active Parent Portal account you may check your child’s grades each week. When you log into your account, the grades will automatically appear on the screen. There is not a “report” tab to click on in Parent Portal.

Blythewood Middle School & Richland 2 raises money for scholarships for teacher cadets...
Every year, Richland 2 raises money for scholarships for teacher cadets. This year, the goal is to give a $1000 scholarship to one student from each high school's teacher cadet program. Blythewood Middle School is supporting this effort and will raise money by selling concessions to students during the dodge ball tournament, Monday and Tuesday. All proceeds from concession sales will be donated to the scholarship fund.

Club/Group Pictures and Make-up Pictures...
School Picture make-up day is Wednesday, November 14th.
If you missed getting your picture taken the first time, then on Wednesday, November 14th you will have your picture taken. This picture will also be put in the yearbook. Students who missed pictures the first time because of absence or are new to Blythewood Middle will have their picture taken.
On Wednesday, all group/clubs will also be taking their pictures for the yearbook!
Peace Poster Contest Winners 2018...
Mrs. Atkins wants to thank all participants of this year's Peace Poster contest. It was a tough call, with so many entries capturing the theme "Kindness matters."
