Jalen Geiger

Congratulations to our student Jalen Geiger!  We are so proud of you and excited for you!!!

Blythewood, SC (WLTX) --- Tony and Ramona Geiger spent a combined 46 years wearing USA on their uniforms as members of the US Army. Now, their son Jalen has earned the chance to wear it on his.
Jalen attended several camps from Rock Hill to Ohio, after which he was selected to represent Team USA in the International Bowl against Canada. The game will be played on January 31 at AT&T Stadium.
The Blythewood Middle schooler is the only player from the midlands to earn a spot on the team.
But wearing the stars and stripes across his chest means just a little bit more to the Geiger family.
"It's rewarding for us to see our son, in a different manner, wear USA on his chest and represent our country," his father Tony said.
Being raised with military values has played a role in the success of Jalen's young career.
"The military service is a great place to learn discipline, and to be disciplined; and that's what we try to instill into Jalen."
Jalen takes those lessons to heart.
"They taught me work hard, stay humble, and you will come out victorious."
He often trains at Killian Park with his father, and they've been doing it since he was little. They work on everything together; whatever it takes to get him ready to excel at the next level.
For him, the International Bowl is a little more than just a game. It's the chance to represent the three letters that his parents wore for 46 years.
"Hearing about them going out and fighting for our country means that it's my turn to step up," Jalen said.
The game will be televised on ESPN3 on January 31.
