Richland 2 and Richland County Library partner for a great cause

Richland Library is partnering with Richland School District Two to provide library cards for all students in the district, roughly 28,000. The public library cards will be given out on Tuesday, September 8 at Blythewood Middle by English Language Arts teachers and media specialist Mrs. Swetnam. The cards can be activated online at www.richlandlibrary.com/connected or at any Richland Library location. The cards will be full library cards. All normal checkout rules and policies will apply. The cards give the students access to all the resources at the library. Here is a link to the databases especially relevant for school age children and teens.

If students already have an account, all fines and fees on the cards will be removed if they bring in the new card to have it activated at one of the public library locations. The fines will not be automatically removed. The student must come in to one of the public library locations with the new card. It does not matter how old the fine or how much money is owed. The card balance will be brought down to $0 to give the student a fresh start. This is only true for student accounts, not parents' accounts.

Richland Library Blythewood manager Shirley Carter will attend BMS open house on Sept. 10. She will be available to answer questions about library resources in the media center. See you in the library!
