R2 Ready to Read
Help Richland Two spread the joy of reading by participating in the R2 Ready to Read Campaign. From November 2015 through May 2016, the district hopes to collect 35,000 books to give to students in Pre-K through second grade.
Community members can donate new and gently used books in bins located throughout the community at Bridge Creek, Catawba Trail, Conder, Forest Lake, Joseph Keels, Killian, Lonnie B. Nelson, North Springs, Polo Road, Pontiac, Rice Creek, Sandlapper, Windsor and Lake Carolina Lower elementary schools; Richland Two Center for Child Development and District Office; Brookland Baptist Church, Northeast, 1203 Summit Pkwy; FedEx Ground Package Systems, Shop Grove Drive; Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, Village at Sandhill Branch; Johnson Controls, 14 Woodcross Drive; North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 N. Trenholm Road; and Spring Valley Baptist Church, 91 Polo Road.
Research shows that children who are exposed to books at an early age are more likely to be successful during their educational careers.
“We want to give our youngest students 10 books for their home library to read over the summer with their parents,” said Martha Jones, executive director of strategic partnerships for Richland Two.
Individuals or businesses that would like to place a collection bin at their location or make cash or large book donations may contact Martha Jones at martjones@richland2.org or 803.787.1910.
