Counselor's Corner: E-Learning Tips for Students...

Hello Charger Families!

Here are a few tips that will hopefully help your student during this time.

Student Tips
Try to keep your schedule as consistent as possible:

-Wake up around the same time each morning.  Don’t sleep the day away.

-Get out of your PJs and get ready for the day just as you would for school. Staying in PJs all day may sound like a good idea, but it tends to keep us thinking, “when do I get to go back to bed?” and can reduce motivation.

-Eat a decent breakfast.

-By 9:00am start working on your e-learning assignments.  Email your teachers if you have a question about an assignment and participate in google hangouts if your teacher is offering it.  Don’t procrastinate because although no due dates have been assigned, you don’t want your work to pile up.  A great tip is to follow an abbreviated version of your own Charger schedule.

-Take an hour for lunch to eat something, get outside if the weather is decent or make a quick video call to your bestie.

Home is now your place of work and should be treated as such (with a few perks like getting to pet your dog or get a snack when you want one). However working from home does not mean you are no longer responsible for the same things you have always been responsible for. Whatever you have been expected to do in the past, remains true now whether that’s cleaning up after yourself, making your bed, doing dishes, feeding the fish, or whatever.

Keep in mind that with so much in our world currently out of our control, these are things you CAN control! And don’t forget, if it all starts to feel like too much, talk to those people who care about you whether it’s family, friends, teachers or your counselor.
